I’m a brand planner who likes to, well, plan. So, which new and exciting media tactics do you think we’ll see in 2023?

Dear Type A,
Great Q! I asked Tara Stephens, Brokaw’s resident social media strategist, to share what she expects to see #trending.
Here are some of her top prospects for 2023:
Long-term influencer campaigns
UGC and influencer campaigns have continued to gain momentum as brands get a better sense of their value.
This medium has proved consumers want real opinions from real, trustworthy people. Plus, authentic content from niche experts offers improved opportunities for organic targeting.
Conversational search (ChatGPT, anyone?)
OpenAI’s ChatGPT has caused a frenzy with its capabilities—everything from creating dialogue to writing code—so just think how it might wield influence once its kinks are un-kinked.
Micro-stories
Digital storytelling keeps evolving. Consumers want short-form videos (we’re looking at you, TikTok and IG Reels) and micro storytelling, so that’s what platforms are prioritizing.
The challenge? Offering bite-size information that’s engaging AND thoughtfully presented AND informational, yet doesn’t scream, “Hi, I’m an ad.” No pressure, right?
Best of luck in 2023! (And we have plenty more insights to share if you’re interested.)
Love,
Shelly
