Brokaw Named Ad Age Small Agency of the Year for Its Culture

Cleveland firm known for quirky sense of humor holds “super small” celebration

PORTLAND, OR—July 26th, 2013—Brokaw Inc., a Cleveland-based advertising and digital marketing firm known for its quirky sense of humor and torrid growth over the past two years, has been named Ad Age Small Agency of the Year for Agency Culture. The internationally-renowned marketing publication named Brokaw the best creative culture in the country at its annual Small Agency Conference in Portland, Oregon, on Thursday, July 25th. Hundreds of entries were submitted from small agencies across the U.S. and Canada, as well as 20 countries. The competition was based on a number of criterion including Thought Leadership, Creative Portfolio, Business Results, and Agency Culture. Agencies with 150 full-time employees or less were eligible to enter. Judging was determined by editorial staff from Ad Age, as well as a panel of ad agency professionals across the country.

To thank its growing roster of national clients for helping them win this prestigious Small Agency honor, Brokaw is mailing its clients small boxes of little chocolates handmade by the stars of TLC’s reality show Little Chocolatiers. In addition, Brokaw will let all employees out a little early on Friday, August 9th at 4:40 p.m. to have a small, 20-minute celebration at Johnny’s Little Bar in Cleveland’s Warehouse District, which will include 7 ounce Miller High Life bottles and a very small toast.

“Don’t let our silly, little celebration fool you—this really is a huge honor,” said Gregg Brokaw, Managing Partner at Brokaw Inc. Co-Owner and younger brother Tim adds, “Hopefully, this will open a few more doors for us and give our agency a boost, as well as the growing creative community in Northeast Ohio. Who doesn’t love a good underdog story, right?”

Of course no one is more proud than Bill Brokaw, the founder of Brokaw Inc. and the father of Gregg and Tim, who sold the company to his sons four years ago, “Hey, I might’ve set the stage, but the Brokaw brothers are taking it to a new level. Wonder if they’ll let me buy back in?”
