Back to School

Hear that bell‚ Screech? Yep, it’s that time of year when we ship our kids back off to the classroom, much to the delight of parents everywhere. (Cue cliché children’s groans and parental applause.) But why should shorties be the only ones to benefit from higher learning? We all need some continuing education as the ad world continues to evolve on the daily. Yes, this is a reality. And no napping (or weird stuff, creep) inside those giant VR goggles.

Social Media 101

Here’s a great resource with the #basics. Prefer a cheat sheet? Use the CliffsNotes for your Pinterest homework. We won’t tell. (#Idontgetsnapchat #nocheating)

Intro to Web Animation

Consider this your foundation course. Also known as “The History of Flash.” (Sorry, Flash, but you know it’s true.)

Current Events

Staying relevant is key in this biz. Try one of these lectures to be in the know:

Or maybe you just need to brush up on the Classics. Here’s your required reading:

  • Ogilvy on Advertising
  • Bill Bernbach’s Book: A History of Advertising That Changed the History of Advertising.
  • And of course, Luke Sullivan’s Hey, Whipple, Squeeze This. Be sure to check out Sullivan’s blog. (You can even tweet at him for extra brownie points, you teacher’s pet.)

Finally, there’s always the random electives. Because everyone wants to be a more well-rounded person. You know, someone who can speak Elvish while underwater basket weaving.
